Trous-de-Loup

Also called military pits. An obstacle usually sited beyond the crest of the counterscarp consisting of a arranged pattern of pits about 6 feet in diameter and 6 feet deep with a sharpened picket planted at the bottom. The pits could be hidden placing a layer of by light hurdles over the tops of the pits and covering the hurdles with a layer of soil.
